Yes he does whine alot but he is also such a sweet boy. He is content to play on his own with his action figures, transformer, and play doh. He is like his mom when she was little and is very tiny he at times looks like a starving kid and thinks is fun the you can see his skeleton when he is naked. Alex as well will start kindergarten next year and is the more shy one who will take a little time to warm up to the idea of not being with his brother. He has this scream that when he is playing in a group I always know he is okay cause of his squeal. He loves to have alone time with his mom and I can often find him snuggled up next to me in the morning when I wake up. He does not drink a lot of milk like his brothers and prefers water. He is a very adventurous eater and will try something where as his brother will often say they don't like it. Alex has the sweetest smile and often talks with his eyes. He is a bit shorter than his brother but I never underestimate his quickness. He is very sensitive and if he gets in trouble cries and wants to be snuggled. I am excited to watch all of my boys become wonderful young men and help them make the best choices. We are starting to become very active in sports and in their school and I only foresee us getting more busy. We hope you will join us for the adventure.

Our Nater Tatter

He can be feisty and sassy one minute and sweet and cuddly the next. Nate is the dramatic one. God did not give us girls (yet) he gave us Nate. Nate Loves the color pink and his baby doll Lulu. He loves to help me with the laundry and cleaning. He will make a great husband someday. He is the middle child and is often striving to get a word in between his brothers. When he is mad watch out he can be scary but then after it is over he is the sweetest little boy. He is very smart and sneaky and always has a comeback for anything you say. He is always telling me that I will forget that I told him he could not do something. He has this sweet calic in the middle of his forehead that is often the only way people can tell him apart from his brother. But me, I can tell them apart the second they open their mouth. Nate will be going off to kindergarten next year and in a separate class then Alex. I hope he does not have one of his tantrums when he is told he can not do something. He may possibly hide underneath the table. This is the kid who appears to be very strong and bull headed but enter the Easter bunny or Santa and he is under the table in 2 seconds flat. He is very athletic and can hit a ball with a bat no problem or play soccer and actually know what he is doing. Nate keeps us all entertained and fills us with our share of snuggles. I love having a jokster in the bunch and he is always making me laugh. He is gonna do great things this little one. below are clips from the last year. Oh how those word have stuck in my mind. You see when I was a child I would do anything to get my hands on baby. I loved them and could not wait to have one of my own. On December 15th 2004, I got that gift of becoming a mother. I was so excited to have Jacob and be the best mother I could to him. He was a happy baby and always made us laugh. His toddler years were busy, busy , busy. One of my closest friends, who now has three boys of her own, has recently told me that she now understands why I was pulling my hair out going crazy just trying to keep Jacob busy the year before he went into kindergarten. You see Jacob had A LOT of energy. he was to smart for his own good and I was at the end of ideas for him. Once he go into school people told me that he would be "so tired" at the end of the week and would just crash over the weekend. Well, not Jacob he did not slow down one bit. He still continues to be a busy seven year old, first grader, who has learned to channel that energy. I was just telling someone a few months go that it has been so fun to watch this transition that Jacob is going through. He is very sensitive and wants and strives to do the correct thing. He is very smart and is better at math than his mom. I am excited for what is to come for Jacob and love him and his personality more and more every day. Below are clips of Jacob over the past year. I am excited for what this year may bring and the calmness that I am striving for as compared to 2011. Our family was very busy over that last year. Building a new house, Jacob and the twins both in school, having our old house on the market and ultimately renting it out. In addition to all the other busyness that a family goes thru with three young boys. Soccer, football, swimming, Spanish, summer camp, piano and on and on. My goal this coming year. to get organized (yes I know you all think I am the queen of organization but after moving and seeing all the "Stuff" we have I clearly am not that organized..) Also this year I want there to be calm in my crazy world. How are you going to accomplish this calmness with three young boys you ask? School next fall will be a huge change for us. I will not be running back and forth every two hours three times a week because they will all be at the same school. One drop off and one pick up. Oh how sweet it is going to be. In addition we will not be designing and building a house which turned out not to be as bad as one would think. Our biggest conflict was over landscape, and that too passes and we are into our beautiful new home. So as we begin this new year I challenge all of you to take a moment and find the calm in your crazy life and cherish it for it never last quite long enough. Below is the collage of photos taken as our house was being built. Click on any picture to view the entire collage.

My How time flies

It has been so long since I have updated this. It was not until I was at family Christmas here in Portland that my sister politely informed me that I have been slacking on the blogging. I have thought so many times to get on and do it then I am off doing something else. I have tons of pictures to update you on but for now this is the best I can do.

Jacob-
He is doing great. He is going to be 6 in a week and I can hardly believe it. He is loving school and is doing well.He loves library day so he can get a new book on dinosaurs. That is totally what he is into these days. He also loves anything about rockets and spaceships. It is so fun to watch him grow and learn and absorb so much from school. I love to go in and help in the classroom I think it is a great way for parents to show their kids they truly care about them and their education.

Nate-
He is our mouthy one.He can come back at you with a one liner just as you get it off your tongue. He talks with his eyes and has the greatest expressions. He is loving school and always has to know who is bring snack for the day. Just yesterday I was sitting with him and my mom at the table and she asked him to write his name and he did. This was the first time I had seen him do this.Note to self never underestimate your children. He loves his books at night and three snuggles before bed.

Alex-
He is our one who prefers to play by himself at times and is very sensitive. He gets his feeling hurt very easily and has the saddest cry. He likes to snuggle when he is ready and loves have alone time with mom and dad especially at night before bed. He likes to have his book and then cuddle for a few minutes. If he does not get his cuddles then he does not go to bed very well. His teacher at school tells me that he is always keeping tabs on Nate at school making sure he is in the right spot at the right time.

John and Tricia
We are doing well. We have been very busy getting our hose on the market to sell. We have bought a lot and as soon as our house sells we will build. The lot is close to where we are now. We are excited about this adventure. I have taken on a new job as of Nov. 15th. I am now working in and OBGYN office which has been great no weekends or holidays and I am home at night to get the kids to bed and read and snuggle. I am still staying on with the hospital as needed because I do enjoy it. So yes we have been busy but that keeps us out of trouble.

First day of preschool

Free digital collage generated with Smilebox

The little boys had their first day of "tiny tots" today. It went great. Nate is in blue and Alex is in red. When they got up at 6 am they got their rain coats and their backpacks on and did not take them off until they had to get dressed. Then when we took Jacob to the bus stop they thought they were going on the bus.
We got to tiny tots and they went in and found their hooks and then their seats they were so good and sat there until it was time to start class. When I picked them up they said they had fun and that they "got no time outs". For some reason their first three years of life have gone by so much faster then Jacobs and I can not believe they are in preschool. He has a teacher that this is her first year teaching and I think she is going to be wonderful. The Monday before school started we had a dessert social at our house with the kindergarten kids in our neighborhood and it was a huge hit. The three teachers came and the principal. It was a good time for the kids to get to know one another and meet their teachers in a more relaxed setting.
Jacob wanted to ride the bus but John and I wanted to take him on his first day. He was so excited. We got to his classroom and found his seat and then when class started we did an activity with the kissing hand book. It was so much fun. Then the parents left and then I picked him up at 3pm. I asked his teacher how the day went and she said Jacob had a great day and was very good. What a relief. I was so happy the first day went well.
I found myself during the day thinking and wondering what he was doing and if he was having fun. If he liked his lunch and if he made friends with new kids. So of course when he got home it was 20 questions from mom and he said "mom I had no yellow or reds." Those are the disciplinary system of warning then in trouble. He had a great day and was excited for the next day as he was going to be riding the bus.
The bus riding experience went well and he made it there and back. I was worried he would not know what to do or where to go but I figured he would figure it out.
On Friday afternoon he came home with a red smile face on his hand for being such a good kindergartner. Then I got a call from his teacher. My heart sank for just a moment and then she said "I just wanted to let you know Jacob had a great first week and was a delight to have in class." I was so proud of him and I am so glad he is excited about school
A huge thank you to all of you who kept telling me he would do fine and for letting my share my fears with you.

And the tooth is out

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_40HaFnNMhP4/TGGvqNGqzyI/AAAAAAAAAEc/6g6CKLbgVug/s320/IMG_1027.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5503873359230455586" />
On Aug. 10th Jacob went to his last day of sport camp at the sport center. He came home with a surprise for me. It was his tooth that had come out earlier that day. Now up to this point we had been working on getting this tooth out as the one behind it was already in. I had sent him with an apple not thinking about the tooth and it did the job. When Jacob came home and said his tooth cam out my heart sank cause I though he had lost it and did not have it to put under the pillow. How silly being so upset over a stinking tooth but he is my baby and that tooth was his first one to come out and he was so excited to put it under his pillow. Buy a las they saved it for him and that made me so happy. When going to bed that night Jacob asked if he could have coins instead of a dollar bill so he could put it in his money bank. He is growing up so fast especially this summer. Teeth falling out, starting school, playng outside with is friends. I am excited for the rest of his adventures to begin.

Trip to Idaho

This picture collage customized with Smilebox

Our trip to Idaho last month was a lot of fun. There is so much that Idaho and cour dalane offer. It is a very quaint town with tons of water activities and lots of things to do around town. By far the highlight of our trip was the Pirate Cruise that we went on. It was very kid friendly and they loved it Jacob especially. We spent some time one the lake and hung out at the house we rented and went to the park. A great time was had by all and the boys loved seeing their cousins. our trip included a day at the water park of Silverwood where we wore all the kids out and had a great time on all the rides and in the water park. It was a mini Disneyland and confirmed my belief that Disneyland is still a few year away for us.

you will laugh about it when you get to the other side

Today I met a woman with seven, yes seven boys. You can imagine my delite when I say that she made it thru and was at Silverwood Theme Park with one, of her two, granddaughters. She was encouraging telling me that her boys did things she is just now learning about. She told me to be thankful that I do not, and will not know of all the stunts they pull. But that when I get to the other side and they are grown up and responsible for themselves I will look back and laugh about it.
I truly have days when I am not sure how parents make it thru the day and come out in one piece. But this nice lady placed her hand on me and said "you to will make it thru and laugh about it later."

My boys are challenging and I think it is Gods way of showing me that I got what was coming. For as long as I can remember, I wanted twins. Not only twins but I wanted three boys then one girl. We will see about the girl. There are days when four seem like no problem and then we go on trips and we no longer have to bring a stroller, a pack and play, diapers, bottles, a diaper bag, or any of that. It is nice to be in a phase where the boys are able to go to the theme park and walk or tell us what they want. We are in a fun "family stage." But part of me is feeling like our team is not complete yet. Like there is one more player out there telling me they need to be on the Reeves team. So, for now we will keep going as a family of 5 and see where life and God takes us.

vinegar does more than clean your floors

Today was a challenge for me as my five year old has been testing how far he can get with John and I.Well Today we took extreme measures. He was spitting on is cousins, and if there is one thing I do not tolerate it is spitting. So yes my friends he got Vinegar in his mouth. This is the recap from outside the door or the bathroom. He is crying saying "yuck what is that stuff it is gross" no no no I don't want it. Then he came out and said "that was sick" as he is crying. Now my children have such beautiful straight teeth, not that I am proud of that or anything,so I feel it and it is the slightest bit loose. How exciting you may think but I said "holy crap" to the two teeth that were already up behind those two front teeth. Should I be worried about that? Do I need to have them pulled? If I do I will have to go to Helena and oh crap school starts in three weeks. So I call my wonderful sister in law, at work, making her pee her pants because I never call her at work. She assures me this is somewhat normal but that I may want to have our dentist look at it. So I go to our wonderful dentist office promptly at 0800 the next morning only to return again at 1115 because the doctor was "in surgery" doesn't he know that I am totally concerned about this. So we go back and he looks and tells Jacob to wiggle the heck out of the two front teeth and they will come out. So every day we wiggle them more and more, hoping this will work.

The funny thing about most of Jacobs quirks he has is, I tell his sister or his mom or step mom about or his dad and they say to me "I am pretty sure that John did that as a child." Like the teeth coming in before others are out and like chewing on any piece of paper his little hands can get on and chewing his shirt. So yes folks in this case the apple does not fall far from the tree. Perhaps it will be the apple that aids us in getting these teeth out.

Challenges of boys

TAKE THE TIME BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE

For the past three weeks we have been going to swim lessons in the morning for a half hour and the boys have loved it but Alex has taken to goofing off more than swimming. Yes, he is the youngest, and I think he is beginning to realize what that role has been traditionally known as. For instance, he has now taken to talking in a language only Nate can translate. It is sort of a baby voice and a winning voice. He has also become accustom to not going to bed a night but rather playing in his room. Which is fine except for that he has mastered the art of puppy dog eyes that say cuddle me in the chair then I will go to sleep. Now who would pass up a cuddle in a chair for I know that their time wanting this is limited but every night? Seriously.
I am finding myself cherishing these moments even more with Jacob as he is going to be starting kindergarten in about one month and I know he is going to not be with John and I as much. He is going to be gone ALL DAY. One part of my mothering role is so excited for this and the other is a little scared. Will he know not to talk to strangers? Will he get pushed around on the playground? Will he have lot of friends? All these questions and I can only hope that John and I have placed in him good decision making and good morals to get him thru the next year at school.
Last week I was driving in the car with the boys and Jacob asked my "Mom who is God? What does he look like? Where does he live?" Such big questions from a 5 year old. Then he says to me "mom do you think we could go to the book store and get a book about God?" I told him that we could and I told him that the greatest thing about God is that he loves you even when you make bad choices and That really hit Jacob hard. John and I have been working on teaching Jacob to make good choices. He is having a hard time learning this but I think again, it is one of those lessons that is hard now but will be bountiful later. So later that night as John and I were on our way to a BBQ we stopped at the Christian bookstore. Now let me start by telling you that I can not go into this store without coming out with way more than I had intend to get. So I found a book on questions kids ask about God and thumbed thru it and decided it would help us in our question and answer sessions, (which always seem to be in the car).

LOVE LANGUAGE FOR CHILDREN

In addition to that book I got "The Five Love Languages of Children."
After the boys were in bed that night I read the entire book. It was easy to read and really made me think of how to best love my children so that they feel loved.
Jacob:
He is a combination. He is quality time, words of affirmation, and physical touch. He loves to have time with John and I one on one. We have started taking him out with just one of us and him without his brothers. He often chooses a restaurant dinner as he calls it or swimming with one of us. We try and do this a few times a month. He also thrives on words of affirmation. He loves for us to tell him he is having good behavior or is doing something well. At swimming you can often find him peeking over the side of the pool to give me a thumbs up. This is his way of one making sure I am watching him but to also be sure that I am showing him love be one thumb and he know he has my approval. At any given point thru the day one could find Jacob coming up to John or I giving us a hug and saying "I love you, you are the best." He loves to have snuggles at night and I have to remind myself just as the book says I have to just take five minutes out of what I am doing and show him the affection he needs and his love tank will be full.
Nate:
This little tow head is for sure quality time and physical touch which go hand in hand. He loves to be the one to sit right next to me when watching TV and he loves to read a story at night before bed and then he needs 3 kisses and 3 snuggles because he is three yours old. This is for sure my sensitive one. Just the other day we had a huge wind storm and the toys were blowing in the back yard. He started crying hysterically and was so scared that his house would blow away. Then John went out to pick things up and he was terrified that his dad was gonna be gone. We have to be very careful how we talk to him because if you raise your voice he will think you are yelling at him (so imagine when I really am yelling at him what this does to him.. not pretty.) I often find him saying "mom I am gonna have very good behavior" he truly tries to do good. He love to go to Church with me and will often tell his brother "you don't go to church with mom only I do"
Alex:
He is also physical touch. He loves to snuggle as well but he is always wanting to be held and wants to be the closest to John or I . He would rather sit on the side of the pool close to me than go in. I think he has gotten it a bit sooner that quality time with mom or dad has to come at any cost. just as he knows that at night the other brothers are in bed and he can pull the puppy eyes and he will get a 20 min snuggle with mom or dad. Yes he has us wrapped around his finger where he wants us but again take advantage of this time cause it does not last for long.
I am glad I got this book and read it. I think that it has some good points that all kids are different even if raised by the same parents and that a child may not be one specific type but a combination and that could change over time. If you have time this is a quick read and is worth it.
Next on my list to read is "How to tame your superhero" Will post review when I read it.

Jim and Cheryl's 50th dinner

Here are the photos from the 50th dinner we had. It was Grandma and PaPa's 50th wedding anniversary. We started our tip at the Oregon Coast with not the best of weather. But we got 45 min of no rain and headed to the beach with our pail and buckets in hand to dig and build and in the end to get our toes wet. Who goes to the beach and does not put their toes in the water but for the Reeves boys it was their toes, then their ankles then eventually their leg's. Needless to say they were cold when we got back to the house but had a great time.

This free collage created with Smilebox

After the beach was the big dinner that was planned for months. It turned out to be great. It was fun to get everyone together and let me tell you I have learned a whole new language and vocabulary in talking with my teenage neices and nephews. It is so much fun seeing them all interact and talk about teenage things and also to watch the little ones have fun playng. It was a wonderful dinner and many good memories were made.

Customize a free collage

We also got the chance to spend some time with the girl twins and Kiki and Bebe while we were in Portland. He loved going to this small in house preschool for two years. He has such great memories and made some great friends. Miss Tricia taught him so much and was so patients with him we will truly miss her and his friends. I can not believe that he will be in kindergarten next year new adventures for him and new fears for mom. He is so ready and will have a great time learning so much he loves to learn. Letting him go all day long will be great but scary just the same.

A free digital collage by Smilebox

Quick update

We have had a great vacation so far. We are on our way back to Great Falls but have stopped for a quick visit with Johns sister and her family. The boys had a blast playing with their cousins. The 50th wedding anniversary dinner was a great time and we got to enjoy the wonderful rainy weather in Portland. Once we get home I will update with pictures from our spring activities and trips. Stay tuned

Busy times

I have been trying to sit down and blog for, oh about a week now. It has just been crazy at our house. I wanted to post a picture collage with this post so you can see for yourself just how busy it is but I am still working on trying to figure out how to get it to work. So stay tuned.

We got Jacob all registered for Kindergarten and tonight as we were in the car I asked him if he was excited about it and he said "yes, but I may be a little scared when I get there" I then asked him if he was nervous and he said " no but I might be when I get there and mom do they have peanut butter and honey sandwiches?" I told him that he can take his lunch or get hot lunch, his response was " we better just pack it for me so it is how I like it. He is at such a fun age to have conversations with. Last night was the start of a new activity for Jacob. We decided that once a month he gets to choose an activity with just mom or dad. Last night he choose to go to dinner with John then to the book store then swimming. He was so excited when he finally figured out it was just him and dad and not brothers. I think that this will be great for him and a special time for him to get one on one time.

Now the little boys have not just been doing nothing, they are just as busy riding their bikes and being outside with their buddy Brayden who lives around the corner. They are staring to have very creative imaginations such as playing house and playing walk the puppy. Their conversations in the car are so funny. Such as tonight Nate was telling his brothers that "when you play soccer you only can touch the ball if coach says so, you got it Jacob" Not sure where he got that from. Nate is developing quite the temper and gets really angry when he does not get his time to talk so we have now gone to giving each of them their time and not moving on to the next until one is done it has seemed to help them not get so frustrated knowing that they will get their turn.

I am enjoying the business of mothering three boys but at times I will be honest I want to pull my hair out and I have to just tell myself that their not little for long and especially Jacob I have to make sure I can teach him all he need to know before heading off to school next year where he is influenced by so many others. That is scary.

Boys will be boys

This is going to be a short post as I am on my way out of town. I had to update you all on the "event" that took place over the weekend. I was at work on Saturday night and called home, as I usually do, just to see how thing are going. Keep in mind that it was a great day about 70 degrees out and all the kids on the block were out and lots of people washing their cars making for "water puddles in the street." This Saturday the conversation was as follows between John and I .

Me: How is it going?
John: Well we may have had an incident
Me: What happened?
John: Well you may hear about it from the neighbors.
Me: Oh jease what happened?
John: Well the little boys (Nate and Alex) decided that they were going to play in the water. I (John) was inside with Jacob for just a second and Tracie (one of our neighbors and friends) came to the door with the boys who were naked as a jay bird. You see they had taken off all, and I mean all, of their clothes and left them on the grass next to the curb and were sitting in one of the puddles of water in the street just having a great time with all the rocks.
Me: Oh my God!!

All the neighbor I talked with said it was so cute and had they had a camera they would have taken a picture. Thank God it was Tracie that found them and thought it was funny. So that is the incident of the weekend at the Reeves house. Stay tunned for more I am sure.

Soccer in Montana

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_40HaFnNMhP4/S8JjXe1cUlI/AAAAAAAAAEE/3-RYACexrLY/s320/soccer+3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5459034953391821394" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_40HaFnNMhP4/S8JjW0kehII/AAAAAAAAAD8/-Muadd-H_4M/s320/soccer+2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5459034942046372994" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_40HaFnNMhP4/S8JjWUvOLLI/AAAAAAAAAD0/U5dAgfJRolg/s320/soccer+1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5459034933501504690" />
Today was Jacob's first soccer game. I was sort of hoping it would be called off. We had a beautiful day outside yesterday and then today woke up to snow flurries and COLD. But alas game on. He was so excited to get in his shirt and go play. He loves it. John took him and I stayed home with the little boys for a nap. He came home so excited (mostly about the treats at the end) he got to play against one of his little friends from preschool last year. When he got home he got out of his soccer clothes and went up to mom and dads bed to watch a movie and was asleep in 5 min. THIS SOCCER THING IS GOING TO BE GREAT.

The quote for the week in our house was as follows. Alex "Nate, I ate too much pizza and popcorn." Nate "ya me too, my bum bum hurts." All of this as they are playing trains. I love the flowers and the adorable Easter outfits and the great food. I am always reminded of a special family at this time of year. I used to go to the Grieg's for Easter in Jackson Hole Wyoming with my sister, and it was so much fun. We had great food and tons, and I mean tons, of laughs. They are a wonderful family and created for me wonderful memories.

As a child my family used to go to this resort called Sun River every Easter and it was so much fun we would go skiing and golfing and again many wonderful memories.

As I begin to make memories with my own family I think back to the times that were most special to me and Easter is the one that always comes to mind. So here is the start of our Easter at the Reeves house. We did the yearly egg dying. The boys had a blast. After that was done Jacob and I began our baking. He loves to bake with me and help me. We made our poppy seed cake with icing and our deviled eggs for tomorrow. I cant wait it will be so much fun.

I wish you all a very Happy Easter and hope that you are all making wonderful memories with your families and thinking of past memories that make this holiday so special.

Second time around

I know, I know it has been way to long but I have just now come to the realization that this blog thing is great. Great for friends and family that do not get to see the boys on a regular basis and enjoy all that life has to offer with three boys in the house. We have been a busy family with Preschool, swim lessons, soccer, and finally getting to go out side now that the weather is getting warmer.

The twins are now three and potty trained. It really was not that difficult and we lucked out it took about two week and a jumbo tin of Jellybeans but we got her done. They are full of energy and have a wild imagination. They are great friends and playmates always needing to know where the other is. The are going to be starting preschool in the fall so that will be exciting and new for not only us but their teacher as well as she has never had a set of twins in her class before. (She is in for a treat.)

They have just finished two sessions of swim lessons and are little fish following in their brothers footsteps. Nate was a bit stubborn and did not want to show the teacher he could blow his bubbles so he got to repeat the class and Alex moved on. Well he learned quick and showed teacher Stacy his bubbles and they will be in the same class next session.

Jacob is getting so big and so grown up. He is now 5 and in his last year at his wonderful preschool. He loves to learn and is just starting to read and recognize words. We have begun reading the Magic Tree House book with him which I highly recommend to anyone with 4-5 year olds. He is just learning how to ride his bike with no training wheels (pictures to come). He is such a determined boy and just keeps getting back up and trying again. He also has his moments of teasing his brothers and having a bit of an attitude. He is excited to start kindergarten in the fall and is always asking us questions about it. He has just started soccer and it is great not only for him but his parents as well. It is a great outlet for him. He is so loving and loves to give us hugs and tell us that "Today I am gonna really try to be good all day long."

I have made a promise to post on this blog at least once a week with pictures and updates of what is going on in our busy lives. So send your comments or notes we would love to hear from our friends and family. Here are a few pictures for now.

Happy Birthday boys

Today Nate and Alex are two years old. I can not believe the time has gone by so fast. It seems as though it was just yesterday we were getting ready to have them.

I though on this post I would tell the story of their birth. So here goes.

I had only one request from my husband and that was to wait until after the Superbowl to deliver them. Well I worked a 12 hour shift both Saturday and Sunday that weekend so my chances were pretty good to not deliver. I went to work that Sunday (Superbowl Sunday) and worked my 12 hour shift as usual. I actually liked going work as it was a break from, my then 2 year old. By eh end of my shift I was so tired and one of my co-workers said you look different and my response was "yea I feel like I am done with this pregnancy" I went home and relaxed and ate a meal before going bed of course because of the fact that if I did go into labor I would have eaten because you know how it is . Those wonderful icechip you get in labor. So I ate and went to bed.

I got up around midnight to go to the bathroom and was contracting a little but nothing new so I got a quick snack and some juice and got back in bed. Well I never got back to sleep. The contractions were keeping me awake so I got up again and went down stairs to lay on the couch and watch TV hoping that would put me to sleep. Well no such luck. I started timing my contracting and they were 3 min apart on the nose.

As I had just left work only a few short hours earlier I knew it was busy and that Monday morning was busy as well. So I kept that in the back of my head as I continued to keep track of the contracting that were 3 min apart. I did that for about 3 hours and then called my work and talked to the night charge she said to come on in.

For a little background we had been to the Dr on Friday and I was only dilated 1 cm and both of the boys were head down. Things were looking good for a vaginal delivery. (I had prepared my self for a c-section being as they were twins.)

So I went upstairs and told John "we gotta go" and he wanted to know if my water broke and I said "no". (It had broken with my first, two weeks early.) I told him we just had to go . So at 3 in the morning we loaded up Jacob and took him to my parents and then headed to the hospital.

We got all check in and settled and by this time it was about 5 am and one of my coworkers came in to check my cervix and it was still 1 cm. So we decide to stat inducing my labor and get things going. So we did that and waited till my doctor came in for rounds.

That was another great thing was that my doctor was going to be leaving out of town the following Friday so I was excited to get to have her deliver.

So the Dr. cam in around 8:30 and checked me and wanted to do an ultrasound to confirm that both boys were still head down. Well low and behold baby B was not head down but breech. Baby A was still head down so we had some decisions to make. Our Dr told us we could just do a c-section or we could keep inducing and deliver baby A then attempt to externally turn baby B after A delivered. After thinking about it and having a 2 year old at home I wanted to try and deliver without a c-section.

She could not break my water because baby A's head was not far enough down in the pelvis so we continued on with the pitocin and she said she wouldd be back at lunch time to check on us and hopefully be able to break my water then. Well in the mean time I knew there was a c-section going to happen so I got my epidural and waited till 12:30

The Dr came back at 12:30 and was able to break my water and we went from there. She had a afternoon surgery at another hospital so she said she would check in before leaving our hospital to see how we were doing.

She came back an hour later and I was 10 cm dilated and baby A was very ready to come out. So we rolled down to the OR and after three pushes at 2:02 pm Nathan Henry was born weighing 6 pounds and 3 ounces.

After Nathan was delivered I got a little nervous. They brought over the ultrasound to make sure baby B was still breech and he was so they began the rotation checking with the ultrasound to make sure it worked and one Dr was holding the ultrasound and one was turning then when they were finished turning, which took all of 1 min, one Dr held baby B in position and we waited for the next contraction and once it came I pushed three times and at 2:07 Alexander Cleary was born and weighed 5 pounds and 9ounces. The boys were born at 36 weeks and 4 days gestation.

Piece of cake it was such a wonderful delivery and it was so special to deliver at where I worked with all of my friends and coworkers.

welcome

Hello to all who have come to this log. I am starting this for those who have twins and or multiples and are looking for a reference blog or just somewhere to go that they can chat with people who have been thru or are going thru the ups and downs of having multiples.

To give you a little background on myself, I am a wife to John we have been married 5.5 year. We had our first son on December 15th 2005. We then had our twins on Feb. 5th of 2007. I am also a registered nurse at the hospital where I live. I work in labor and delivery, postpartum and newborn nursery. I have been a nurse for 7 years.

My first pregnancy was great. Got pregnant with no problems and the pregnancy was great. My water broke when I was 38 weeks and 2 days. I just happened to be at work so that worked out well. My second pregnancy was just as good if not better. We delivered at 36 weeks and four days. I went into labor at 12am the night after working a 12 hour shift at work. I will admit is was a bit nervous for the twins delivery but it all went great. (more to come on that later)

My plan for this blog is to provide you with a glimps of how we live our life with twins and a four year old and to provide some links to great information I have gathered over the last two years. Please feel free to aks questions and invite your friends.
